March for our Lives, March 24, Plymouth, Ma.

I have had a number of requests for the prayer I offered on Saturday at the march for our lives. Here it is. Feel free to use it, share it, keep it, read it. Please,Credit me as the author.

Because we are standing in solidarity, I would ask that you please take the hand or link arms with someone near you as I offer a prayer for strength and in gratitude.

Blessed spirit of life and creation, be with us now and in the days to come. As we hold up our heads and lift up our peaceful arms in the joy and grassroots power of love and commitment. Be with us as we walk together knowing we really can make this a better safer world for our parents, for our children and for ourselves.

Prayer is good. But action is better. I pray that this will not stop here. We can’t restore the lives that have been so needlessly lost but we can lift up our own peaceful arms and work side by side so this will never happen again.

The Hebrew bible says in Isaiah 11:6, “In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all.”  And by God, it’s happening. Just look around you. It’s you, you high school kids, middle school kids, even elementary school kids, and the people who love you, who are finally changing the dialog. GOD BLESS YOU!, You are not afraid to stand up and raise your fists and your voices and one day cast your votes…when so many of us seem to have lost our courage or given up. We hear you….we thank you.

Do not go in peace, dear friends….but go united in energy and determination and in strength of purpose. On this cause, and on all of us as we move forward, we ask God’s guidance and blessing. Amen.
